Not to be outdone by the glittering past season on Broadway, London theatre shines with stars, writes the NY Times Ben Brantley: that's Gillian Anderson as Nora in a praised production of Ibsen's Doll's House, and Helen Mirren stars in Racine's Phedre. Not to be outdone by the New York revival, London has its own Waiting for Godot starring Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart.
Meanwhile back on the North Coast, Dell'Arte opens the Mad River Festival with a revival of its own first hit, Intrigue at Ah-Pah in its chilly outdoor backyard theatre in Blue Lake Thursdays through Sundays at 8, beginning tonight (June 25) and continuing to July 12. This is usually a community event, with lots of highly bundled people sipping wine, eating grapes and minding children. Did I mention it gets a little cold after sundown?
