Audition for Actors (and a Horse)


Skyclad Theater (a project of the Ink People) in partnership with the Arcata Recreation Division and NCRT present Plays in the Park, coming this summer.  Auditions for William Shakespeare’s As You Like It and Sarah Ruhl's Late: A Cowboy Song will be held Saturday, April 6th, 2pm-4pm and Sunday, April 7th, 7pm-9pm at the Redwood Lounge in Redwood Park, Arcata, with call backs TBA. The shows open Friday, August 2nd, and run alternating weekends through Sunday, September 1st in Redwood Park. All roles are available. Rehearsals will begin in June.

1Horse: Yes, a real horse. Good natured, calm, good around crowds. Well trained and able to be ridden.

Please bring a headshot and resume if you have them.  Short prepared monologues are welcome, but not required.  Several roles in both shows require singing.  If you are interested in auditioning for a singing role, please be prepared with a short song. If you are interested in offering a horse, a photograph will do.

North Coast Auditions

Auditions for Redwood Curtain's 2012 acting company will be held Saturday November 19.  Details: www.redwoodcurtain.com/auditions.

College of the Redwoods will be holding auditions for their tenth annual spring comedy, The Miser by Moliere on Dec. 1 and 2. Auditions will take place at the CR Forum, room FM103, from 7 to 10 p.m. both nights. No preparation will be required.

HSU Theatre, Film & Dance will audition for its Feb.29-March 4 production of Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit on Sunday December 4 (4pm-6:30) and Monday December 5 (8-10pm) in Gist Hall 2.  Cast is 5 women and two men.  Script available at TFD office.  Contact: Jyl@reninet.com.

Auditions

Open auditions for the musical Brigadoon to be produced by HSU Theatre, Film & Dance and HSU Music departments in October: Thursday and Friday April 28 and 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. in Room 131 of the Music Department annex.  Prepare to sing one refrain from the musical theatre canon, recite a one minute monologue and participate in group movement. This is a large ensemble show, with characters ranging in age from teens to 50s.  More information: 826-3566.

The North Coast Repertory Theatre announces open auditions for the comedy The Kitchen Witches by Caroline Smith, directed by Carol Escobar. There are roles for two women (ages 40-60), one man (age 20-40) and one man or woman (age 18 or older.) Please come prepared to read from the script. Auditions will take place Saturday, April 30 from 3pm to 5pm and Sunday, May 1 from 6pm to 8pm at NCRT, 300 Fifth Street in Eureka. A copy of the script is on reserve at the Eureka public library. North Coast Auditions

As yet another possible service to North Coast stages, I'll see if I can keep up with audition information. So yon theatres, send it to me and I'll post it.

For instance, Ferndale Rep: a call for actors and actresses of color, ages 18-30, for a production of the rock musical "Hair" opening April 3 for a five-week run. All ethnic groups are encouraged to audition. Directed by Vikki Young, musical direction by Tom Phillips, choreography by Linda Maxwell. Also from the Rep: auditions for its 15th Annual All Teen Production, Bang, Bang, You’re Dead, by William Mastrosimone, on MONDAY, DECEMBER 17, and TUESDAY, DECEMBER 18th from 5:30PM to 7:30PM at the Carson Block Building, the third floor, 517 Third Street, Old Town, Eureka. Director Nanette Voss is seeking interested teens, ages 13-21 years, for as many as 20 roles for this drama on school violence. This production will be taken on the road to county high schools.

PRODUCTION DATES are March 6 – 28, 2008. During the four weeks in March, performances will take place not only at the Rep but also at three area high schools. These school performances will be held in assemblies in the mornings and afternoons on specific week day dates. There will be a Q&A with actors after each show.

Actors - Be prepared to read cold from the script and to discuss school violence. Scripts are available on line. Type in and search “Bang, Bang, You’re Dead” and the script can be downloaded onto your computer.
